We just were in Sebring visiting Alisa and John. We reminisced stories of Mittie and talked a out your, Gnarley’s (sp?) and Mittie’s adventure. I didn’t know about your blog and have enjoyed reading it. My best to you. You and your sweet grands have been in my thoughts. As I wrote before, I didn’t know Mittie for long period of time, but her personality, laughter, love of life and her family and friends…. and cigars… always kept me in stitches and smiling. Hugs, Robin

Steve the only thing I could think of that could have added to the trip home would have been if the credit card company screwed up and denied your purchases saying: No account available. Super glad your home . Take care and can’t wait for the re-launch in 2024 (assuming I’m still vertical.)

Oh Steve, what an adventure! But OUCH, you could have taken a nice European river cruise for what you paid your trucker friend. And they would do all the work for you🤣

What a crazy few months you have had; I’m sure Mittie was with you the whole time, and I love the pictures you posted. I forget what a beautiful woman she was.

Looking forward to seeing you next month with Jim & Nola, lots of memories to be shared!

So sorry for the engine and electrical issues, but you did the part of the trip that you were apprehensive about and aced it!👍🏻 I’m glad you and Gnarly are doing OK, that’s the most important thing! Until next time… we very much enjoyed you daily logs and photos. I will talk to you soon, love you both!❤️💗

Oh Steve, I am so sorry the boat has had so many issues but what an experience you have had. I don’t blame you for taking a long break, as you’ve said before, this loop can take years to complete if you do segments at a time. Maybe that is your destiny.
Take care and we will be in touch when you get home.

I am so sorry you are going home, but maybe it is for the best. Mittie would know when it was time to let you know it was time to go home!!

Take some time off, work on the boat as you feel like it and rest up. Oh, and go see both sets of parents. Go see some one for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Or any of the holidays. My sister lives in Greybull, WY and both of my girls live in the Phoenix. We have a flight that goes straight to Phoenix, so I take it every so often.

I am finally finding some peace with Gary’s passing. Maybe because the well went out yesterday. I knew who to call to get it fixed and got it taken care off.

Let us know when you finally get home,

    .

Hopefully, you got your engine all fixed up. Nothing is worse than having it work one day and not the next.

It sounds like you and Gnarly are meeting some nice people along the way. I do think when you get done and look back or even read your blog, you will realize what a great time you both have had.

I’ve had to play catch-up today as I have been busy with my “dog traffic control” duties the past several days. It sounds like you had a great place to lay low for a few days in Niceville and, more importantly, met some very nice people with loop experience. I knew you would find them along the way!
I will try to read daily so I can critique your diet, still not seeing many “greens”🤣

Steve, I enjoy reading about you and Gnarly’s adventures. Thank you for sharing. I’m one of Mittie’s “sisters” from our Facebook group. I loved keeping up with her and Gnarly. Mittie still lives through you and Gnarly.
I live in SW Ga. so all the places from Biloxi on down to Tampa are familiar to me. Yes you will meet some of the best people in this part of the world. Prayers of peace and comfort as you visit with Mittie’s parents. Be safe and keep us posted. 🙏

Clewiston Marina

Mobile to Clewiston

Having survived the Mississippi Sound, Mobile Bay, and a few days of 25 mph winds, the Mobile to Clewiston route should be less challenging.  I say that knowing there will be hurdles to overcome.   The ICW stops at Carabelle and starts again 140 miles south in Tampa.  So, I have to choose a very good weather pattern around the bend of Florida.

Once past Tampa, there will be few Marinas and services because last year’s hurricane wiped most of them out.  I have to manage my fuel very carefully.  With any luck, the winds will favor sailing in the Gulf, and I can burn no fuel.

After Tampa, I will be able to tuck myself into the Okeechobee waterway, out at Stewart FL, and start up the Atlantic ICW.

I will make a stop in Clewiston to see Mittie’s parents.  The only thing worse than losing a lovely spouse like Mittie is losing a child.  We will cry a bit, but I look forward to seeing them and telling them how much Mittie loved them.
