On April 8, 2023 I found myself at the Palafox Marina.  Gnarly and I got a great night sleep.  It started to rain hard as predicted about 6am which woke me up because water was coming through the hatch on my face.  I closed the hatch, slept for a bit more, and started my day by washing clothes.

We walked up the street in the rain and had a wonderful breakfast at the Ruby  Slipper.  Look at the sign of the Restaurant next to the marina.  Do you think they are Dog Friendly?

As I was doing maintenance on the boat, I dropped an inspection cover into the water and it sunk.  Its plastic, and it sunk.  WTF?  Some nice guy who was admiring my boat saw this and offered to take me to West Marine.   Jim was the best.  He took me to the marine store, then to home depot, and gave me a tour of this lovely town.  He then stopped so that I could get some of the best barbeque I have ever had.  I would love to stop here again on my back to Galveston and see Jim.  So, not everyone in Florida represents the kind of guy I saw on the big boats yesterday.  There are actually some very nice people here.  I stand corrected about Floridians, at least most of them.

That reminds me of a Kusek joke.  “I used to not believe in orthopedic shoes, but I now stand corrected”.

I did my laundry and I have fresh clothes, I have full gas tanks, Gnarly and I have full bellies, and  we are listening to the star spangled banner playing on the baseball field speakers before the game.  I was told that last nights game was opening night for the Blue Wahoos.  We will likely leave in the morning.  Stay tuned.
